Taxable Account
Capital Freedom Account
Institutional-grade security and custody without retirement account rules.
What Is a Capital Freedom Account?
A Capital Freedom Account gives you the flexibility to invest in cryptocurrency and precious metals without the restrictions that come with retirement accounts. Unlike an IRA, there are no contribution limits and no deposit or withdrawal restrictions.
This taxable, non-retirement account is designed for investors who want complete control over their capital while benefiting from institutional-grade security and custody.
Closed Custody Network
Deposits, trades, custody, and withdrawals follow a controlled account flow.
Secure by Design
Your account is supported by institutional custody, reporting, and asset protection infrastructure.
Cold Storage
Cryptocurrency holdings are secured in institutional cold storage using Ledger Enterprise.
Insurance Protection
Crime insurance and errors and omissions insurance protection support the account infrastructure.
Vaulted Metals
Precious metals are stored in highly secure Brink's vault facilities.
Tax Treatment
Because the Capital Freedom Account is not an IRA, profits are taxed as capital gains rather than being subject to IRA distribution rules. This can provide greater flexibility for investors who want access to their funds without retirement account restrictions.
Cost Basis Tracking Made Easy
When opening a Capital Freedom Account, you'll select a cost basis method that determines how gains and losses are calculated when assets are sold. Cost basis includes the purchase price of an asset plus any applicable fees.
As you make additional purchases of the same asset over time, each purchase may have a different acquisition price and holding period. Your selected cost basis method determines which shares or units are considered sold first when a transaction occurs.
The default method is First In, First Out (FIFO), though several alternative methods are available. You may change your cost basis election at any time to align with your tax planning objectives.
Simplified Tax Reporting
Capital Freedom Accounts include IRS Form 1099-B reporting for gains and losses from asset sale transactions processed during the year. This helps simplify tax preparation by providing the information needed to report taxable investment activity.
Consult your tax advisor about how a taxable account fits your situation.
